Unit 1

In this introductory unit I learned which Google App is best for the particular jobs I need to accomplish.  For example, if I want to analyze data, Google Sheets would be the best app. I also learned that Google has created so many different features within their Google for Education Apps. Each feature was created to help make a teacher's job easier. 

In this unit I learned where I can go to find help with any Google Related questions. I also learned about Google Experts that I can get in touch with for group trainings within my school. 

Unit 2

Unit 3

In this unit, I learned that I don't always have to make paper copies. This will help tremendously with the clutter in my classroom. Instead of making copies of everything, I can make folders in my Google Drive to store things that I need to save. I can share documents through gmail or google classroom instead of making paper copies. 

This unit was all about using Google to help build a community, We can use Google Groups to ask other educators questions about anything you may be having a problem with. You can communicate with people within your system or internationally. I also learned about the Google Translate feature to help communicate with parents who do not speak English. I also learned about many of the features in Gmail such as the most effective ways to search for emails. 

Unit 4

Unit 5

In this Unit I learned a lot about Google Calendar. I learned how to create different calendars that I can share with different classes with dates different things are due. I also learned about Google Keep which lets you keep up with Photos and locations that things took place. 

In this unit I learned about conducting Google Meets. I learned how to create them, share them, and add them to my calendar so they are not missed. I also learned about Hangout and how we can discuss different things and add more people to these discussions. 

Unit 6

Unit 7

This unit teaches about how to use Google Classroom to make my job a little easier. I learned about making a flipped classroom by adding videos and readings for students to view. I learned about including forms to assess student learning and how to include assignments for students to complete and turn in using Google Classroom. 

I learned about collecting data through Google Forms and Google Sheets in unit 8. Google Sheets helps to collect results from forms and we can average scores, monitor students progress, and create visual data with the information we collect. 

Unit 8

Unit 9

I learned how to search more effectively and how to help students become better researchers. I also learned what to tell students to look for when they find their results such as paid ads usually come first, and these are not always the most useful for students. I am also now able to instruct students on best practices to help avoid plagiarism by using Google to help cite information. 

I really enjoyed this lesson and look forward to putting what I learned to good use when creating assignments for my kids. This unit discusses how to make presentations and documents more engaging. I especially enjoyed learning about Google Earth and how to incorporate that in my history class. I also learned that there are interactive lessons about how to save the planet. 

Unit 10

Unit 11

I learned how to find educational content on YouTube and how to make a playlist to share with students. I learned how to make content and upload it to YouTube. 

These lessons were all about collaboration. I learned how we can share documents in google drive. I also learned how easy it is to assign work in Google Classroom. I also learned how easy Google has made it for us to be able to give feedback to students and how students can collaborate with one another. Some of the apps we learned about it in this unit were Keep, Sheets, Drive, and Classroom. 

Unit 12

Unit 13

I learned how to created strong passwords to help protect myself from identity theft and how important it is to remind students to always sign out of Chrome when using shared devices. I also learned best practices to inform my kids to prevent them from being scammed online or help them identify fake news websites. 

YouTube Training

Content Ownership Assessment

In this unit I learned about how to use content that other people have created without infringing on copywrite laws. I also learned how to protect myself if I end up creating content. This lesson discusses the difference in reporting the illegal use of content that already has already been copywritten.
